The Grand Princess will be making quite a few tours of the Southern Caribbean. Currently, there’s a particularly cheap tour, departing on October 12 from Puerto Rico, starting at only €601 per person for an outside cabin. The cruise visits the British Virgin Islands, St. Kitts & Nevis, Dominica, Grenada, and even Barbados before returning to San Juan after a week.
The prices include 4-or 5-course menus in the à la carte restaurants, or casual dining in the buffet restaurant, the Burger & Hotdog Grill or at the Pizzeria/International Café. Furthermore, iced tea, water, coffee, and tea are included in the buffet restaurant.

The Ship
The Grand Princess is one of Princess Cruises’ older ships, launched in 1998 and updated a few times since. You won’t find the newest tech or trendiest design here, and in places like the cabins or lounges, that’s pretty clear. Some passengers appreciate the classic cruise feel; others find it a bit dated.
The ship is mid-sized by today’s standards, which can be a plus or a minus depending on your expectations. It’s generally quieter and less overwhelming than newer mega-ships, but that also means fewer flashy attractions. Entertainment and activities are similarly modest, with standard cruise staples like live music, trivia, and stage shows.
It tends to draw an older crowd, and the pace onboard reflects that. Service is usually friendly, though some guests mention occasional slowdowns, especially when the ship is at full capacity. Public areas can get crowded at peak times, and elevators are a frequent complaint.
Overall, the Grand Princess appeals to people who want a simple, low-key cruise without a lot of frills. Just don’t expect a polished, modern experience. It’s a ship that does the basics and not much more, which, for some travellers, is exactly enough.
